The 150Te SPEAR and Catcher provides a simple, yet effective method of automatically connecting to, lifting, landing and releasing loads up to 150Te. However, this method can be scaled to lift any required weight of load using the same technique. The Catcher can be attached to a lifting frame, or directly to the load if required. A unique combination of technologies provides a simple method, where the SPEAR, guided by the Catcher, rotates a sectored flange, attached to the SPEAR, into the lifting position, where it will engage with an identical sectored flange on the Catcher, allowing the whole assembly to lift the load. Lowering the SPEAR a second time rotates this flange into the release position.
